The purpose of Central Casting is, primarily, to have fun. But there is also a more altruistic intent -- ideally, members will be able to help staff and players of other MUSHes by giving RP a little bit of a "jump-start." That is, say a game has been growing less active as players lose interest and RP fizzles, or the admin have ideas for a big TP that could use some "extras." That's where Central Casting comes in. A simple e-mail can inform dozens of members about an upcoming plotline or event that may require bit-part players, and CC members can then pop by, take a look around, talk to staff, and decide on a temporary role to play. In short, consider us NPCs for hire. Say you need a goblin horde to invade a town and then get slaughtered, or a group of bandits to rob a stagecoach and get hunted down by the posse, or perhaps a band of wandering gypsies to set up a fair in town. We're the ones to call. Think of use as the Incredible Hulks or David Carradines of the MUSH world -- we wander in, wreak a little havoc or stir up some trouble, then go on our way. If you have a plot in mind and don't have the time to recruit players on your own, or haven't been having much luck drawing some from your playerbase, drop us a line.
