We have no doubt that people will have a number of questions about Central Casting, so we've tried to anticipate some of the more obvious and important ones, and provide answers here.

If I join the mailing list, won't I be spammed with endless ads?

Not necessarily. Anyone is free to e-mail the list, but the e-mails should, ideally, be about specific roles, events, or TinyPlots that require NPCs or bit-part characters. You likely won't get a bunch of ads stating the usual refrain, "My game is the greatest!" Central Casting is designed for a more specific intent.

Will I have any obligation to take part in every event?

Absolutely not. You're not even obligated to take part in any of them -- your level of involvement is entirely up to you. The mailing list is simply a means of finding out about plots, events, and roles that you might not normally know about. If they don't interest you, then don't take part. If they do interest you, then feel free to contact the sender to find out more about them. Think of Central Casting as a bulletin board or commercial -- it's just feeding you information, and whether you act on it or not is up to you. Don't join if you're not interested in the idea, though. And don't join if you're not interested in roleplay for roleplay's sake.

How much time and energy will this require?

As much, or as little, as you want. As mentioned above, there are no obligations to joining. If you don't have much time for MUSHing anymore, but you still want to roleplay occasionally, then this may be the perfect solution. If you already have a main game you play at, but you're interested in occasionally branching out, this may be a wonderful means of doing so. If you're just a roleplay junkie and eager for any roles that come your way, then here's an excellent way to find out about them. The level of time and energy you decide to commit is based solely on how much time and energy you want to commit.

So if I post an ad on this list, how do I know what I'm getting?

Well, to put it bluntly, you don't. You may get half a dozen people interested, or none at all. You may get exceedingly skilled roleplayers, or you may get completely clueless newbies. You run the same risk when you post anywhere else about an upcoming plot or event. But at the very least, it's more exposure for your game, and since Central Casting is designed to appeal to players all across MUSHdom, it should reach a broad spectrum of people. That can't hurt, can it?
